26 November 2024 – Parcent to Alcalali

23 on today’s walk

This included Jan, who has not walked for a couple of weeks

She still has some medical problems

But decided to give it a go anyway

She was walking with a tilt to the left

Which Pierre explained was to ease the pain in her hip

Despite this she completed the walk

And was in no more discomfort than after a walk into Parcent and back

We have been recommended a physio in Jalon

And have an appointment for next week

Hopefully that will help to solve the problem

It was warmer than usual today

But also quite cloudy

Comfortable for walking

But not very good for photographs

The group numbers continue to be higher than we would prefer

But it is not such a problem now that everyone knows each other

And it would be really difficult to decide who can walk and who can not

There are currently 45 members in the group,

28 resident and 17 non resident

On average 6-8 residents are not available each week

And usually only 2-6 non residents want to walk each week

No doubt over a period we will lose some members

Or at least that is our experience to date

Nice problem to have such a large number who want to walk with us each week

Temperature – 17-23c

Time Taken – 3 hours

Distance – 9 km

18 November 2024 – Jalon to Alcalali Ermita

21 of us today

This included another Paul, also from Parcent

Unfortunately Jan was not walking again

Still having problems with her hip

But hopefully she will be walking with us again soon

It was nice to have Lorraine back again

She has spent about four months touring around Europe

Despite the terrible Gota Fria in Valencia we have been very lucky

Apart from a few days of heavy rain, it has been a mild winter so far

And in fact the temperatures have risen again this week

The forecast is for sunny a 20-21c all week

Still need a jacket or jumper at the start of the walk

But extra layers soon removed as the temperatures rise

It was great to do the Col de Rates last week

But everyone was happy to be back with our gentle valley walks

Lots of space to spread out, so lots of chatter

And everywhere looking very attractive in the bright sunshine

Jan gave me a lift in this morning, so that she could join us for a drink after the walk

I gave her a ring when I estimated we were 30 minutes Jalon

And she was waiting for us when we reached restaurant RiuRau

Lorraine’s husband, Elizabeth’s husband and Barry, who was unable to walk, were also waiting for us

RiuRau has become a firm favourite for out after walk drink

Not only because there is always lots of space for our larger group

But also because it is a lovely location and good service

Lovely walk and looking forward to next week

Temperature – 18-21c

Time Taken – 3 hours

Distance – 9 km
