20 August 2024 – Family Visit Week Two

Our second meal out together was Dockers in Jalon

Not sure if Chloe approves of her Nan’s second large glass of rosado

Clearly Jan doesn’t care

Georgia opted for the very large portion of ribs

Ever predictable I choose fish and chips

It is a little cooler this week, but still 32-34c

We booked an outside table, and were relieved to find it was in deep shade

This show of affection is because I agreed to buy her a bag in Calpe for her Christmas present

And of course Jan has to have a hug too

We cut our meal short in order to visit the play park before it got too dark

This has been a feature of their annual visit for a few years

Jack and Georgia still seem to enjoy it, even though they are a little older

Chloe seems to have boundless energy

But it’s still nice to have a comforting hand, just in case

Our second night out was to Calpe (again)

This time to the Family Park

This is another family favourite since we discovered it a few years ago

We only had a couple of hours there, but they made the best of it

We walked along the sea front looking for the promised Christmas present for Chloe

Eventually got two bags, one for Chloe and one for Michelle

This was our first visit to the Texas Steakhouse

It was recommended by one of Stuart’s friends in UK, a regular visitor to Calpe

The food was great and the service second to none

Another addition to our Calpe favourites

13 August 2024 – Family Visit Week One

This year they abandoned the car in favour of the plane

For the past two years they have driven from Newcastle

But 1500 miles each way is a long drive

Our first outing was Chino Imperial in Calpe, an old favourite with all of the family

It felt strangely normal to be sharing a beer with Jack (his was bigger than mine)

Being self employed they could not leave work behind, but at least their office had a better view

The children are considerably older, and no longer is the pool the attraction it once was

Except for Chloe who is now a very proficient swimmer

Though she does like some company

Hard to believe that Michelle had been at the Parcent fiesta until 0400 the previous night.

They do still enjoy visiting the coastal favourites of Calpe or Javea

It has been particularly hot this year

So they wait until evening to drive to the coast

Where they can cool off playing in the sea

Followed by a  nice meal in a local restaurant

5 August 2024 – Mid Summer Get Together

Our third midsummer get together was at Piscina de Orba Pizzeria

There were sixteen of us today

This included Jenny and Pierre’s family who are visiting

They have three young boys, who were very well behaved

Unfortunately they are much too young for the Monday Ramblers

Another very pleasant get together to break up the boredom of the long summer break

In just four weeks we hope to meet for our first walk after the summer break

22 July 2024 – Mid Summer Get Together

Our second mid summer get together was at Bar Pensionista in Jalon

Julie was quick to show off her wedding anniversary gift from Don

At our last meal there was a lot of discussion about traditional anniversary gifts

And a quick reference to a smart phone confirmed that 18th is Porcelain

We all enjoyed our first get together in Parcent two weeks ago

And we were looking forward to seeing everyone again

It gives us all something to look forward during these long, hot summer days

8 July 2024 – Mid Summer Get Together

It is too hot to do our weekly walks during July and August

At the end of our last walk it was suggested that we have an informal get together on alternate  Monday’s

Someone suggested setting up a WhatsApp group where anyone could make suggestions

Gary offered to arrange a midday meal at the Cooperativa in Parcent for the first meeting.

Twelve of us met for a very enjoyable meal and had a very pleasant  chat
