2 December 2024 – Tormos Isbert Dam

22 on today’s walk

These two greeted us as we walked through Tormos

Jan is still having problems with her hip

But didn’t want to miss the walk

A surprising number had not done this walk before

So we stopped to enjoy the views, including “the bull run”

Until you see the photographs, it’s easy to forget what a lovely walk this is

Particularly on a sunny day like this

Richard and Helen joined us for their first walk

They moved to Pego a few months ago

The scramble across the river was the bit Jan was worried about

And was very grateful for Pierre’s help

This has never been her favourite part of this walk

But she managed much better than she expected

As always we had our banana stop just after the abandoned rail tunnel

Where we also had the traditional group photo

Even with a large group there is plenty of seating for everyone

I was given the task of handing out the boiled sweets, which are always welcome

The rest of the walk is mostly flat, and on good road surface

We can enjoy the views instead of looking at our feet all the time

By now the early morning chill was replaced by the warm sun

And outer layers of clothing removed

The detour past the horses was particularly attractive

And we had frequent water stops to enjoy the views

Always a good opportunity to take photos

Unfortunately both bars in Tormos were closed

Temperature – 17-20c

Time Taken – 3.5 hours

Distance – 9 km

26 November 2024 – Parcent to Alcalali

23 on today’s walk

This included Jan, who has not walked for a couple of weeks

She still has some medical problems

But decided to give it a go anyway

She was walking with a tilt to the left

Which Pierre explained was to ease the pain in her hip

Despite this she completed the walk

And was in no more discomfort than after a walk into Parcent and back

We have been recommended a physio in Jalon

And have an appointment for next week

Hopefully that will help to solve the problem

It was warmer than usual today

But also quite cloudy

Comfortable for walking

But not very good for photographs

The group numbers continue to be higher than we would prefer

But it is not such a problem now that everyone knows each other

And it would be really difficult to decide who can walk and who can not

There are currently 45 members in the group,

28 resident and 17 non resident

On average 6-8 residents are not available each week

And usually only 2-6 non residents want to walk each week

No doubt over a period we will lose some members

Or at least that is our experience to date

Nice problem to have such a large number who want to walk with us each week

Temperature – 17-23c

Time Taken – 3 hours

Distance – 9 km
