We cancelled last Monday’s walk because of heavy rain
So we were determined to walk this week whatever the weather forecast
The forecast for today was cloudy but dry
We were delighted to see two young girls taking their very cute lambs for a walk
What an appropriate sight for Easter Monday
There were only 11 of us today, compared with 21 last time we met
This was largely due to non residents returning to the UK
And no less than three for colds and injuries
This was a new walk for this group
It followed the Senija Cross walk, but without the cross
It is one of many walks we are hoping to include in our walking programme
The aim is to add a little variety, and a little more challenge, to our weekly walks
We were quite surprised to find a lot of large family groups walking to the cross from Senija
They seemed to have a lot less trouble with the rough track down to the village than we did
It took us two hours to reach the square, and our delayed banana break
Next time we must bring a picnic lunch
By the time we started our return journey it was clear this walk would take more than the anticipated four hours
Fortunately we had excellent weather, sunny with a cool breeze
Making the walk through the woods particularly nice
As always we walked at the pace of the slowest
And had lots of water stops to recover and enjoy the views
Including this last break before the final stage back to Lliber
Jan finally remembered to take a photo
Everyone recovered well from the challenging first half of the walk
So we did our usual detour to enjoy the long valley views
And the gentle walk back to Lliber
This is my favourite view of the valley, and one I never tire of
Erika, Jan and Electra provided the rear guard for this final stage of the walk
And of course our much appreciated drink in the square
Everyone seemed to enjoy the walk and all claimed they would like to do it again
Temperature – 12 to 17c
Time taken –4.5 hours
Distance – 10 km
